The DC Future Book 2026 Edition

Published on Wednesday 7 October 2026, the Pensions Policy Institute (PPI) launched the twelfth edition of The DC Future Book, setting out the latest data and analysis on the UK Defined Contribution (DC) pensions landscape. This year’s edition is kindly sponsored by State Street Investment Management and Scottish Widows.

The DC pensions landscape is changing rapidly. Demographic and policy changes mean that current and future retirees are more likely to live longer, receive their State Pension later, and reach retirement with DC savings forming an increasingly important part of their pension provision. At the same time, savers are increasingly required to make decisions about how best to manage and consolidate their pension savings, and ultimately how to draw an income from them.

This year’s edition explores the evolving retail pensions market and its relationship with the wider DC system. As individuals move between workplace and retail pension arrangements through independent saving, consolidation and retirement, understanding how these different parts of the market interact is becoming increasingly important.
