PPI Response: The Second Pensions Commission call for evidence
On Tuesday 14 July 2026, the Pensions Policy Institute (PPI) responded to The Second Pensions Commission call for evidence, drawing on findings from our recent research programme to consider the evolving challenges facing the UK pensions system.
The response examines retirement adequacy, fairness and sustainability, and considers how factors including housing, household circumstances, employment patterns, earnings and caring responsibilities shape retirement outcomes.
It also explores the progress and limitations of Automatic Enrolment and the range of policy approaches that could improve retirement adequacy while balancing the wider objectives of the pensions system.
