Briefing Note 113 - The impact of Pension Credit reform for mixed age couples
On 14 January 2019, the Government announced, via a written Ministerial Statement, that it would be implementing a section of the Welfare Reform Act 2012, making changes to the age at which some people could claim Pension Credit. This Briefing Note examines the potential effects of this change for mixed age couples who have yet to claim Pension Credit, or who may have to end and re-start a claim. The expectation is that they would have to claim (or continue to claim) Universal Credit.
