Lost Pensions: The Evidence Starts Here
The strength of this research depends on industry participation
Please take part and help us build the most accurate picture yet of lost pensions in the UK
We are delighted to launch the 2026 Lost Pensions Surveys, building on our 2024 research which highlighted the growing scale of the issue. This year, for the first time, the survey will be extended to cover the Defined Benefit (DB) landscape, helping us build the most comprehensive overview of the current situation.
Lost pensions remain a significant and growing issue, with millions of pots worth billions of pounds going unclaimed. The PPI’s research plays a critical role in evidencing the scale of the challenge, informing policy, and supporting efforts to reconnect people with their savings. By expanding the scope in 2026, we aim to build a more complete and robust picture of the pensions landscape. The research, including findings from the surveys, will be published in October 2026. Only with strong industry participation can we build a truly comprehensive and representative picture.
