PPI Independently Facilitates Pensions Commission Stakeholder Workshop
On Thursday 23 July 2026, the Pensions Policy Institute (PPI) was pleased to independently facilitate a stakeholder workshop on behalf of the Pensions Commission, bringing together more than 80 representatives from across the pensions sector, government, industry, employers, consumer groups and academia.
The workshop, chaired by Chris Curry, Director of the PPI, was attended by all three Pensions Commissioners and provided a neutral environment for open, constructive discussion on the long-term future of the UK pensions system. The event forms part of the Commission's ongoing engagement following the publication of its interim report and the accompanying call for evidence.
The workshop explored the key themes emerging from the Commission's work through three facilitated discussion sessions:
- Balancing the roles of the State, employers and individual savings in achieving retirement adequacy.
- Managing risks and decision-making at retirement and beyond.
- Supporting those at greatest risk of undersaving for retirement.
Each discussion table fed its conclusions back to the wider room, helping to capture a broad range of perspectives and experiences from across the pensions landscape.
Alongside presentations from the three Commissioners, attendees also heard contributions from organisations represented on the Pensions Commission Liaison Group, including Which?, the Trades Union Congress (TUC), the Association of British Insurers (ABI), Pensions UK and the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). These perspectives helped frame the discussions and provided valuable context for the collaborative sessions that followed.
The PPI was proud to support the Commission by providing an independent forum that encouraged balanced debate and enabled stakeholders from across the sector to share their insights on the opportunities and challenges facing the UK's pensions system. The discussions will help inform the Commission's continuing work as it develops recommendations for the future of pensions policy.
