Briefing Note 1 - The Pension Credit
Means-tested benefits are an increasingly significant part of pensioner incomes. The number of people eligible for a means-tested income supplement is projected to grow significantly when the Minimum Income Guarantee (MIG) is superseded by the more generous Pension Credit (PC) in October 2003.
This Briefing Note explores why the Government is increasing means-testing and what Pensions Credit means to current pensioners and the working population.
