Pensions and Divorce: what do we know, and what future research is needed?

In July 2021 Professor Debbie Price (Cathie Marsh Institute at the University of Manchester & PPI Governor) and Dr Jennifer Buckley (Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing at the University of Manchester), presented the results of exploratory analysis of quantitative data on the impact of divorce on pensions wealth and outcomes for divorced people.

The research was jointly sponsored by the PPI and the University of Manchester through the Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing (MICRA).

These findings are published today in their paper, Pensions and Divorce: Exploratory Analysis of Quantitative Data, which presents quantitative analysis of pension wealth and assesses the current situation regarding the division of pensions on divorce.
