Understanding the Gender Pensions Gap

The Pensions Policy Institute (PPI) is today publishing Understanding the Gender Pensions Gap. NOW: Pensions sponsored the PPI to provide modelling to feed into their research project; Facing an unequal future: Closing the gender pensions gap.

This report focuses on the pension savings gap between men and women and the major contributing factors to these differences.  It analyses the reasons why such factors cause differences in the amount contributed into a pension and also explores the impact a range of potential policies have on bridging the gap.

As a follow up, the family carer top-up and contributions from the first pound were jointly explored in greater detail to see its effect on bridging the pensions gap. The presentation of the results is shown below.
